2022
Clarendelle Médoc

Tasting notes
The wines have a very high deep red colouring matter content, as dark as ink.The Merlots ripened without difficulty this year and the Cabernets Sauvignons are incredibly ripe, underpinned by a classy and elegant tannic structure. Starts out with a bouquet of ripe black fruit aromas, mingled with floral notes and forest floor nuances. Spicy, peppery aromas then come to the fore, accompanied by well-integrated empyreumatic notes due to barrel ageing. There is a great deal of substance and complexity yet the texture is velvety and caresses the palate. The wine is soft, silky, concentrated and powerful, showing perfect balance.

Climate
The 2022 vintage was characterised by successive heatwaves demonstrating the reality of climate change.Sunshine set in from May onwards, leading to early, quick and high-quality flowering. A series of heatwaves then ensued in mid-June, early July and early August, interspersed with welcome rainfall in late June and mid-August that mitigated their effects The earliness of the heatwaves and water stress from mid-June onwards prepared the grapes to cope better with the impending heat. While produced in lower yields, the resulting wines are of excellent quality and show good balance between powerful tannins and acidity.
